What I liked

Working for PII is very satisfying for those who enjoy working with others and collaborating on projects. Despite being remote, I've made meaningful connections with my peers. Additionally there is always an integration of new technologies and ideas, making the work very dynamic and engaging.

What I wish was different

The Covid-19 pandemic was difficult at the start. It took time for individual and group projects to kick off since the global situation was always changing.

Advice

PII is very much dependent on ideas and projects that you individually provide. Many different skills, such as product development, marketing, or experience with media can all contribute to a role on the team. If you have a certain skill, even if it is assumedly unrelated, make sure to explain it or describe it. There is a chance it can be explored further, or even transformed into a project on its own.

What I liked

Despite the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic and the spontaneity of this co-op opportunity, I really enjoyed the internship. The positive remote work environment made me excited to log in everyday, and I was able to take on various leadership positions and work that interested me. Aside from building my professional experience and networks, I came out of this experience with more faith in and a better understanding of myself, my work habits and my skill set. The leadership, principles and work culture at PeaceX is unmatched.

What I wish was different

It would have been nice to meet up in small groups with my co-workers, but that was virtually impossible during the pandemic. The remote work environment that we established through Zoom and Slack is as great as it gets.

Advice

Embrace ambiguity! I never saw myself in a position like this before actually finding it, yet now I view it as one of the best opportunities I could have had in a time like this. Despite the ambiguity, the things I learned, skills I gained, and people I met made this an extremely enriching experience.
