PECO

Systems Engineer Co-op

March - September 2021 • Plymouth Meeting, PA

What I liked

Everything. I learned a lot about how the power industry works, and how the electric grid is monitored and maintained. I did work that had practical value, and the work helps to ensure that people can live their lives with electric power. I was challenged to take on creative assignments as well. The people at the company are great. They are kind, and made me feel like an employee.

What I wish was different

This is my first internship, and it was a good experience. I am happy with how it went, and nothing needs to be different.

Advice

It is important to work hard and be reliable.

Reliability Engineer

March - September 2021 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

The company culture and environmental. Everyone is willing and ready to help if you’re willing to learn and make the most of the internship.

What I wish was different

Wish I had more time to work of my project that I presented at the end of the internship because I could’ve gotten more specific than what I had shown in the day of presentation if I had reached out to other groups for help sooner.

Advice

Definitely use the resources available to you. In an internship environment everyone is a resource so come with questions and be willing to explore new topics and projects at the workplace.

Intern

June - August 2020 • Berwyn, PA

What I liked

I loved the company and how accommodating they were with Covid. They were so inviting and gave me many responsibilities. I was able to lead meetings with engineers and propose ideas for the region.

What I wish was different

I wish I had an in person experience, but working remotely was a great way to work and spend my summer down the shore!

Advice

Put yourself out there! Never be afraid to apply to anything. PECO normally hires Drexel students and I didn't think I would be qualified or even get hired but when I did I knew I wasn't going to stop there! Push yourself and always do your best, ask questions and YOU WILL LEARN!

Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

The location, work environment, and people on my team. I truly learned a lot about where people in my field fit into this company along with their job function. I was given projects that were similar to, if not the same as, what the full-time employees were working on.

What I wish was different

I did not have any say in which department I would be placed in. No relocation packages available.

Advice

Make the most of it!
