Camp Counselor

June - August 2018 • Foster City, CA

What I liked

I love working with kids, so this was a great job for me. It was nice having consistent hours (unlike getting a seasonal job at a retail store). There are also plenty of opportunities available if I want to work as a camp counselor again (after the camp's summer session, they send you follow up emails about opportunities for future camp sessions). A perk was that all the staff received free access to the PJCC facilities (gym, pool, etc.)

What I wish was different

Overall, the job was great so I would not ask for anything different.

Advice

Although this job is fun, you also have to be at 110% all the time for the kids. It's really tiring, so be prepared to be exhausted. Just make sure to get rest after work and get enough sleep.

Service Desk Representative

July 2018 • Foster City, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed contributing to member retention and new membership sales, while acting as the first line of communication and creating a welcoming environment daily

What I wish was different

Something I wish had been different was that I wish I could have interacted more with members as our typical interactions were pretty brief.

Advice

One piece of advice I would like to share about this experience is that it helped me realize the importance of customer service and providing an entire experience to members.
