Everyone at PLM is incredible. They are so supportive and really want to see you learn and grow in the industry. I had the chance to take the first test towards my CPCU (I passed!), present to the CEO of the company regarding potential changes to the company, and work on projects that actively assisted other ongoing company initiatives. They really treated me as if I was already a full-time employee and made my experience incredible.

Advice
Take your intern experience seriously! Sure, it's summer vacation but you are working a job in a professional setting. Pay attention to the dress code and the requirements set before you. When assigned a project, give it your all and don't be afraid to ask questions. Take every chance you are given to network with your coworkers and upper management. They are all so nice and are happy to answer any question you may have.

Insurance Underwriting Intern
May - August 2018 • Philadelphia, PA
What I liked
I felt as if I was constantly challenged throughout my internship and always had something new to do. I feel as if I actually stepped into the role of an underwriter.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been a more formalized training program for me to learn the specific underwriting guidelines of the company.

Claims Intern
May - August 2018 • Philadelphia, PA
What I liked
I enjoyed the hands-on experience as I was basically doing what a full-time employee would be doing. I spoke with insureds and brokers and managed the entire claims process from beginning to end. I also got opportunities to meet other employees and departments, and had a great orientation where I learned about each department in the company and how it is run.
What I wish was different
Sometimes I was piled with work, and this did not allow me to learn more or shadow another department.
Advice
If you are interested in working in insurance claims, this is a great opportunity.
