Audio Intern

January - May 2017 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

Working in a professional studio was very eye opening and interesting. It was great to see people doing work that I love, and doing it professionally, passionately and effectively. I was free to ask questions and sit alongside anyone who was working on something and pick their brain. I was able to sit in on sessions and experience how professional everything was in this setting.

What I wish was different

I was not given a lot of responsibility outside of basic internship duties such as cleaning and restocking the break areas. I was never really given anything to work on. I spent a lot of my time just asking question and watching sessions being worked on and run, after a while, one can run out of genuine important questions. I would ask for things to work on and often wouldn't be given anything. I really would have liked to work on a project.

Advice

The internship is really up to you in how you learn and experience it. You must be ready to ask questions and be patient.
