The intern cohort had weekly symposiums with leading professionals in various departments of the organization, so we were exposed to the full array of activities that the organization carries out.
What I wish was different
Each intern was placed in a sub-department of the health department for the entire 8 week program. I wish we had more mobility so that we could gain experience working in various sub-departments. I also wish the assigned supervisors had been more prepared to receive interns, as many of us lacked enough work to keep busy.
Advice
As not much work is assigned, be proactive in asking for work and for different opportunities in order to get the most out of your experience.
