HR Intern Recruiting Specialist

What I liked

I liked the aspect of being able to take control over key projects, training, and the idea of what human resources are.

What I wish was different

I want to say that this internship experience was pleasant and a great learning opportunity, but I cannot. As a graduate student having worked in a professional environment, I was expecting clear communication, clear expectations, and clear guidance on all assignments, tasks, and ad hoc projects. More often than not, I was left isolated, dismissed, or verbally scolded when I asked questions regarding the tasks assigned. There is a lack of standard operating procedures for any of the processes that exist within the Praescient Analytics HR office. It was clear that requesting any written guidance was ignored due to your lack of responsiveness to the virtual team's emails. There is a difference between a virtual intern and an in-person intern. It is apparent that in-person interns are privy to training, guidance, and support that virtual interns never receive. This distinct contrast is not a hidden practice; it is quite blatant.

Advice

If you're going to intern here, I suggest doing the internship in person and joining a different sector other than Human Resources. Only the HR interns and the Communication interns (marketing, social media, etc.) were virtual-only. I know for a fact that my experience would've been different if I was on another section such as a Business Development Intern, Intelligence Cell Intern, etc...

What I liked

This company had a great internship program that allowed interns to interact with each other as well as with all members of the Praescient team. I felt empowered by the staff and was able to learn much from this summer internship.

What I wish was different

I wish that there had been opportunity to be on site for some of this internship; however, COVId limited this opportunity to virtual/ at-home work.

Advice

Don't be afraid of what you do not know. Seize the opportunities and learn as much as possible. You make your way in this world. Make your actions count!
