Nanny

May - August 2021 • Chapel Hill, NC

What I liked

I really loved getting know and spend time with the kids throughout the summer! Helping them complete daily tasks and get ready to go back to school was really fun as well!

What I wish was different

I would have liked to have had a more official work contract which designated when I got time off and how I was able to request time off in advance.

Advice

Being a nanny is hard and tiring, but the relationship that you make with the kids is unforgettably sweet and touching. By the end of the summer the kids didn't want me to go and it was absolutely touching!

Swim Instructor

July - September 2021 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I love working with kids and watching them progress to be water safe by the end of the summer. Watching their growth is incredibly rewarding.

What I wish was different

I wish I didn't have to commute. I felt like I wasted so much time driving around instead of in the water.

Advice

I think everyone should get the opportunity to share their passions with children. Swimming has done so much for me, so it feels great to give back.

Nanny

June 2020 • Boise, ID

What I liked

The job is very casual. I get to dress in casual clothing and have casual conversations with the family in the household. While the baby naps I have time to complete homework assignments and personal responsibilities. The hours are also flexible which helps make sure I have time for school and social life.

What I wish was different

Advice

Being a nanny while in school is probably the easiest job to have. It is good money and it allows time for school work. Yes you can do homework while you're at work getting paid! Not only that but if you aspire to be a parent someday it is great practice. Some families will come and go but once you start with one family word gets out and you will be approached by other families near by!

Nanny

May - August 2020 • Pittsburgh, PA

What I liked

I liked the consistency in getting to know the same two kids throughout the entire summer. Their home felt like a second home to me and feeling loved and cared for by the family made my job so much more rewarding!

What I wish was different

Advice

If you can, get to know the parents as well. Also don't be afraid of discipline- when done correctly the kids will respect you much more than if you let them get away with anything. Both of these make your job much more fun, relaxed, and rewarding!
