What I liked

I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the children and all of their energy. My days nannying were never spent the same and I valued having different dynamics and the freedom of how to spend our time together. I also connected very well with the family and continue to be in touch with them and have formed a lasting relationship with the kids and parents.

What I wish was different

The amount of rainy days we had! The kids loved spending time outdoors and so many of the days I worked with them were spent trapped inside.

Advice

I would advise that people who are interested in nannying be people who have a passion for children, yet are okay with establishing rules and setting up a dynamic for how you will foster a relationship with the family. Additionally, this job requires loads of energy and creativity in order to keep up with the kids!

What I liked

I was hired by private business owners to create a website. Since I was the only one on the project, I had to do everything. Photos, design, content. I learned so much and really developed confidence in decision making and communication.

What I wish was different

More one on one coaching.

Advice

Be bold. Sell yourself and your talents and that will at least get you in the door. Then, you learn as you until you really are confident in your skills.

What I liked

I loved being able to spend time with the kids and get to know them and their personalities throughout the summer.

What I wish was different

One of the kids was quite a handful so much that I had to watch for cues as to when she was going to have a breakdown.

Advice

Kids are kids, and each one is different. You have to be able to shift your habits and behavior around different kids and center your care one them as individuals.
