What I liked

I liked that I got to work with people everyday. I want to be a teacher in the future and I feel as though the experience of caring for children will help me in that field. I also enjoyed the spontaneity of this job. Since I was working in a home and not in an office, I was allowed more freedom. Some days, the kids just wanted to hang out at home and other days we went somewhere fun. Again, I feel this will help me as a teacher because everyday in the classroom will be different and I need to be flexible and willing to accommodate the students' needs.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have had more places to take the children and more things to do with them. However, the activities we could do was all based on our location, so there is not much I can do to change that.

Advice

As a nanny, remember you are working with children. They will be loud, they will cry, they won't listen sometimes. But yelling at them and putting them in time out isn't always the best option. Let kids be kids.

What I liked

Interacting with them and learning so many new things about children that I never expected. I was constantly surprised by them and they kept me on my toes, there was really no down time!

What I wish was different

I wish I would have done even more interactive things with them rather than taking the short TV breaks we took once in a while.

Advice

Definitely helped me grow as an individual and taught me so much about real life and responsibility. This job carried so much responsibility and there was no room for mistakes in that aspect which helped me to give it 100%.
