What I liked

I enjoyed working with an intern partner on a supportive team of other software engineers, data analysts, business leaders, and more. I also loved having lots of mentors and supportive figures around me who helped me learn and grow over the summer. There was a very kind company culture.

What I wish was different

I wish I had learned more about the structure of the company during the initial onboarding process, as opposed to learning later on in the summer.

Advice

I would advise people to ask lots of questions and go to company events. Getting to know people in multiple settings was a great way for me to become more comfortable in a new environment.

What I liked

I enjoyed being client facing, speaking with hundreds of customers daily from around the world. While working at Putnam I was on a team in the office which I gained long-lasting friendships from. Company culture was a good environment to work in. Also, I was able to obtained an in-depth knowledge of the mutual fund industry and financial services.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more time spent in meetings or in groups doing work, instead of always being by your self at your desk. Also processing legal documents and requirements took a long time.

Advice

If you get the opportunity to work with a company like Putnam, give it your all. Be driven and always put a lot of effort into your work since it will be noticed. You want to be invited back for the chance to work there in the future or receive a good recommendation letter from them.
