Resilience Resources LLC

Field Intern

March - September 2022 • Minneapolis, MN

What I liked

Working for Resilience Resources was the most comprehensive learning experience an internship ever gave me. The position works in both public and private sector roles, from being monitoring program staff for a rural watershed district to an engineering consultant project in downtown Saint Paul. As a small company, I got to learn directly from my employers with 20+ years experience each in their fields. While working on a wide variety of tasks, all of the work makes great impactful change in Minnesota's waterways.

What I wish was different

While this position is not a full time role, the work experience and mentorship is invaluable. With being a part time position there may be some changes to the schedule, but it is very flexible and the employers make sure it works best for everyone.

Advice

This position is great for those who love working outdoors and thinking on the fly. With any field work, things can't go perfectly all the time- this job builds great confidence in your abilities, new skills, and connection with your team.

Field Intern

April - September 2022 • Annandale, MN

What I liked

It provided me with great experience in my field of environmental science. This internship actually helped me to land the full-time job I have now. They had flexible hours, and both of my bosses were incredible! I was looking for a job where I could do field work, and this was a perfect fit. The pay was also impressive, especially as far as internships go.

What I wish was different

The only complaint I have is that some of our equipment was outdated, so sometimes that caused delays and we had to fix the equipment before we could continue on with our field work.

Advice

If you're looking for a job in which you get to spend a lot of time outside and get boots-on-the-ground experience, this is the internship for you! If you're in the environmental science field, gaining the knowledge about monitoring and water chemistry is extremely valuable.
