Ruby Tuesday

Restaurant Host/Hostess

July - August 2019 • Hinesville, GA

What I liked

The staff and managers were very family-oriented. They really focused on teamwork and team building. I also liked how the manager was very honest in his encouters with his employees and he cared about their well being.

What I wish was different

I wished I had more time to work. If I stayed, I am sure that the managers would have invested in me so that I could grow in a leadership role.

Advice

My advice to anyone looking to work here is to listen to everyone's preferences but do your job. It is important to keep the interest of the whole group in mind. But remember why you were hired and do your part too because when one piece of the puzzle falls apart, everything else seems to do the same. It is truly a restaurant business work environment.

Waitress

June 2019 • Shrewsbury, PA

What I liked

I liked the opportunity to meet and interact with a variety of different customers and build relationships with regulars. I enjoyed the people I worked with and the environment was overall friendly and welcoming. I liked the pace of the job, there was usually always something to be done which made shifts go by quickly and kept me occupied during my time on the clock.

What I wish was different

I wish that the change system was based on a register rather than the servers needing to make change themselves.

Advice

Work well under pressure! When it’s busy you need to be able to focus and do what you need to do without getting flustered from the quick pace of everything.

Advice

When working as a waitress, there can be a lot of negativity from co-workers and kitchen staff either from a stressful shift or unfriendly customers. However, I tried my best to stay positive and focused on my work. Spreading negativity and complaining only makes things worse. Patience and a positive attitude are key!
