One thing I really liked was that they had an ESL cohort. The ESL students getting personalized attentions from peer mentors and the were getting accommodations with the benefits to help them success here at Salt Lake Community College.

I wish there was more origination when it came to the ESL cohort. I also wish that the workshops that they would host were a bit more accommodating for the ESL students.

Orientation Leader

September 2019 • Taylorsville, UT

What I liked

I love the people I work and the vibrant energy my coworkers bring into the energy. The benefits has a student leader at Orientation and Student Success is that you have your textbook paid (every semester) and your gap & gown. You will learn so many skills and you will never leave as the same person you were hired as.

Summer bridge peer mentor

May - August 2021 • Salt Lake City, UT

What I liked

I enjoyed working and getting to know the students, they were so fun to work with. It honestly didn't feel like a job most of the time, it felt like I was hanging out with friends. I also enjoyed all the fun activities we did on Fridays with the students. Best job I've had, it also opened a lot of opportunities for me at Salt Lake Community College.

What I wish was different

Advice

Be open with the students, be their friend but also be a good role model for them.
