Schreiber Foods, Inc.

Talent Acquisition Intern

November 2023 • Green Bay, WI

What I liked

I loved the company culture, and the encouragement I received from my team. I was able to enhance and advance my technical skills while in this role, while also receiving valuable feedback from my team. I was able to apply the skills I am currently learning in school to my work. I am treated as part of the team which I really appreciate. I love the hands-on experience I am able to receive through this role. The tacit knowledge I've been gaining through this internship has been invaluable! I also really enjoy the fact that it is a year-round internship, I feel like I get to learn a lot more about Talent Acquisition and Schreiber as a whole.

What I wish was different

As a remote worker, I wish there were more opportunities to meet the team in person.

Advice

Ask questions! Don't be afraid to ask for more, or to ask to learn something. Take in everything that you can.

What I liked

Very nice environment. Co-workers are positive, the building is brand new, and it's a great chance to work in a big company. Schreiber has over 8000 employees!

Advice

Try to be open and collaborative with everyone you have the opportunity to work with. There are tons of opportunities to learn here.

Although some of it was during the Covid-19 pandemic I value my time at Schreiber Foods because they immediately treated me like family. Research and Development Intern

January 2019 • Green Bay, WI

What I liked

I love seeing how my degree can be applied in the work force. I feel like I am gaining great professional experience. I also really enjoy feeling like a part of a team while also having my own individual projects.

What I wish was different

The only think that I wish was different was how my school schedule impacts my work schedule because it is sometimes hard for me to find the time to go into work due to when I have classes.

Advice

Take a chances and try new things. I did not know anything about the dairy industry or food science going in so this internship was definitely an example of me trying something new. Because I have no experience in food science, I also was not sure how I would compare to others interviewing for the position but I took my chance and tried anyways and it has honestly been one of the best choices of my life.

Research and Development Intern

May - August 2018 • Green Bay, WI

What I liked

I loved the people I worked with and the projects that I got to work on. I really felt like I made a difference in this company, even if it was a small difference. I learned a lot from my team, I was able to apply the concepts I had learned in school to my work, and I was able to meet a lot of new people which included other interns, professionals, and upper management of the company. The company culture was very positive and motivational.

What I wish was different

The company I worked for had several manufacturing facilities around the United States, and unfortunately, I was not one of the interns who had the opportunity to travel to a different plant. I wish I could have traveled to another plant to see what the atmosphere was like and see the products being made in action.

Advice

Go into your internship excited and eager to learn. Always keep asking questions and have a continuous desire to learn more.

engineering co-op

March - October 2018 • Logan, UT

What I liked

Working in a engineering position. Designing new pieces for the factory, solving problems, managing people.

What I wish was different

More work. Most of the time I sat around with nothing to do. More engineering work, I was running small errands and doing emails more than anything. Did not need the degree I am working for to do this job. Management was very poor

Advice

Ask early for more tasks. Try to build up a list of work you need to do rather than finishing it up.

Global Business Systems Intern

July 2018 • Green Bay, WI

What I liked

Working at Schreiber for the last few months has been absolutely amazing. I learn something new literally every single day, and I continue to apply the things I learn to help better myself as a partner with Schreiber. Even as an intern, you get the chance to immerse into so many different areas. For example, although I'm on the Global Team at Schreiber Home Office, I work daily with the development team, and I've also done work with the Accounts Payable team, as well as many others. At Schreiber, you aren't the one going to refill coffee cups, you aren't the one filing paperwork, you are an asset to the team and to the entire company. Since July, I've learned how to use new platforms that will be useful in my future, like Balsamiq Mock Ups 3, qTest, Oracle, and Jira. All of which I never even knew existed prior to working at Schreiber. It's also important to note that not every body knows everything, so you're not expected to know everything either. There are still days where I ask so many questions, but I've also had days where I've actually taught people things too. In my opinion, the intern experience at Schreiber is absolutely like no other.
