Nutrition Program Advocate

June - August 2018 • Maplewood, MN

What I liked

I liked that it was a fast pace environment, I also liked that I got to interact with many people and meet volunteers. There was always something to do during my intership, if I needed something to do someone found something for me to do. I got to meet different people each day and got to interact with clients. I also got to sit down and do administrative paper work as well. It was a well rounded intership in the sense of doing various things.

What I wish was different

One thing I wish has been different was just to slow down and enjoy the interactions we were having and learning how to socialize with people again outside of college.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share of this experience is to have patience and openminded. This is important because not everyone you meet will think like you and act like you and being openminded really helps you build those relationships with your peers working with you, your supervisors and other staff. Having patience is important be cause not everyone goes at the same pace and learns at the same pace. Especially when working with clients you need to have patience because the clients do not know about the entire company like you do or the process to get to a certain point.
