First Mortgage Operations Intern

June - August 2020 • Moon Township, PA

What I liked

I liked being thrown into a project that, at first made me uncomfortable and still continues to do so considering the amount of material I learn every week. I also like being able to consistently improve reporting methods by utilizing programs more efficiently and to the best of my abilities. My public speaking skills have improved since completing this internship, due to the amount of presentations I was able to give to upper management.

What I wish was different

I wish that I was able to see my fellow interns and managers in person. I like working remote, but I also thrive when I'm able to meet new people in a personal setting.

Advice

I would say that it's important to always, or mostly, say 'yes' when being asked to step out of your comfort zone. It is extremely rewarding when doing so leads to more opportunity, and to a better version of yourself.

Corporate Training Intern

June - August 2019 • Moon Township, PA

What I liked

I loved that I had the opportunity to learn new things. As a Human Resource Management major, I didn't spend much time in training until this internship. I appreciated that my co-workers and supervisor were so supportive of my growth at the company. I also had to opportunity to work remotely with my team. It was a great eye opener to learn different ways of communication other than face-to-face. I also had the chance to work with my fellow interns on a project based on corporate social responsibility. I had an amazing opportunity to partner with other departments. I partnered with Employee Engagement to suggest learning paths on diversity and inclusion. Last but not least, ServiceLink provided me with a mentor in the Human Resources Office. She provided me with the opportunity to observe her team and speak with her about anything I needed. I was able to see the interdependencies between HR and Training. Overall, the company culture was so supportive and helped me grow as a student.

What I liked

I was able to rotate through the different parts of the accounting department. It was also nice learning about all of the lines of business that they offer and getting the details from the accounting perspective.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been able to spend a little more time with my mentor because he had great experience and knowledge and I wish I would have been able to learn more from him.
