Shooters Technology LLC

Software Engineering Intern

May - August 2021 • Manassas, VA

What I liked

The small size of the company gave me a lot of flexibility and control over my project. In addition, I was able to work directly with the lead software engineer and chief architect, which provided a unique mentorship experience that I would not have gotten at a larger company.

What I wish was different

Having scheduled weekly scrum meetings would have been helpful. We conducted ad hoc meetings at various times throughout the week which sometimes needed more structure and consistency.

Advice

Prepare yourself to learn a variety of new skills and technologies along the way. Being a self-learner is key to succeeding in a new role.

Frontend Software Engineer

What I liked

Amazing remote experience working for Dr. Anderson. It was a very small company, only 3 employees, everyone was willing to help out. Dr. Anderson is a great mentor and understood that you probably don't know everything and he treated you like both an intern and an employee.

What I wish was different

I wish it wasn't remote, but that was due to COVID-19, not Shooters Technology

Advice

If you're applying to this company then I hope you understand the shooting competition world. It's best if you know and understand competitive shooting either first hand (preferably) or atleast know about it.
