Some of the other people working there are really nice and good people to be around

What I wish was different

Nearly everything. Our managers were incompetent, especially since January of 2023 when we lost one and replaced him with another who is condescending, rude, lazy, incompetent, and overall a bad person to be around. She makes every day working there miserable when she's on. She tells other people to do work that she was assigned to do, she tells people to do things that they will get in trouble for, and so much more. She threatened me to make me work on my day off even.

Advice

Do not work at the Galloway ShopRite until she is fired or gets transfered for the 6th time for this. For as long as she is there, it is not a good place to work. You will need to fight her to just do the job you were hired to do. Avoid ShopRite 600. At least until she leaves. Work at the Absecon one instead. It's only a couple minutes away and closer to the whitehorse pike.

Cashier job is often underrated in the society but do not fall for it. You can get good customer service experience and it's a great start in your career.

What I liked

I liked seeing people from my church, high school, and neighborhood. It was also very close to my house so it was almost no commute! I have extremely few complaints about the work environment. I worked there summer 2019 and plan on returning again for the summer of 2021.

What I wish was different

When it gets really busy that can be stressful at times. And usually the customers are polite or at least indifferent, I just did not appreciate the more difficult customers that come through now and then.

Advice

Do your absolute best even when it feels mundane, and go out of your way to give people the best experience possible. People notice when you go the extra mile, are particularly kind/friendly, or when you work patiently with a difficult customer.
