Digital Marketing Intern

May - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Working at Shoptiques was a great experience. Not only did I get to learn valuable marketing skills, but I was able to take on tasks by myself and have independence in my internship. I learned social media managing, HTML code, and even business websites like the email scheduling site sailthru.com and the customer service site, desk.com. My favorite part of this internship was that I was able to connect boutiques on the Shoptiques platform with bloggers and influencers around the country. With these partnerships, boutiques gifted the influencers clothing in return for social media posts. These posts helped bring customers to both Shoptqiues.com as well as the promoted boutique.

What I wish was different

I would not change one thing about my internship. I learned more than I could have imagined and I am able to add valuable and unique skills to my resume that my peers will not have.

Advice

If I were to share one piece of advice, it would be to not give up! Securing an internship is a feat in itself. I had applied for over one hundred internships in New York City, and still only heard back from a handful of companies. It is important to remember that the younger you are, the harder it is to get an internship, but if you keep applying and strengthen your resume, you are sure to hear back!
