Signal Group

Communications and Marketing Intern

June - December 2020 • Washington, DC

What I liked

Amazing experience. I did not want my internship to end. Everyone is SO helpful and open to helping you learn whatever you're looking for. Got to work with high-profile clients and directly contribute in client meetings, internal meetings, and larger conference planning. All of the executives are accessible and anyone's network is fair game if you want to pursue non-Signal opportunities. Amazing people and meaningful work.

What I wish was different

Nothing.

Advice

Make sure your time management is solid and self-motivated. High-quality writing skills are a must as well.

Advocacy Intern

June - August 2019 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I loved the mentorship I established while at Signal Group and the way in which my network expanded. Interning at Signal Group was a tough but rewarding experience where I was able to explore my professional strengths and weaknesses while being entrusted with real client work. It was such a wonderful company to intern for, and I cannot recommend interning here enough.

Advice

Take advantage of the people you have at your disposal. Executives at Signal Group typically have years of experience under their belt, and will push aside time to talk to you about your professional aspirations and what you want to do post college. Hearing about my friend's internships from the summer and how many did not feel as welcomed at their companies, I feel blessed that I was able to work in such a nurturing environment.

Communications Intern

June - August 2018 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I had the opportunity to serve as a fully-contributing team member on two accounts that were both very interesting and also quite different from one another. It was great to gain exposure to two different industries and different styles of consulting while working alongside professionals in strategic corporate communications and digital brand marketing.

What I wish was different

Nothing! I loved my experience.

Advice

Be assertive and always look for opportunities to contribute.
