I worked with one of the top international experts in my field, and was able to contribute to an organization that is known worldwide for setting the highest standards in the museum field.
What I wish was different
Although I contributed measurably to the project, the role was as a volunteer. Although a paid position would have been nice, the lack of funding forced me to find funding from other sources, which was itself a valuable experience.
Advice
Imposter syndrome is real, but you have to push it out of your mind to get the position you want. Acknowledge, accept, and then disregard the fact that someone, somewhere is probably better at the job than you. Remember, even the CEO at one point had no idea what she was doing.

Registrar Intern
June - August 2018 • Washington, DC
What I liked
Everyone I worked with at SAAM, both in Intern Programs and the Registrar's Office, was incredibly supportive and excited to help me learn more about the work they did.

Advice
Take advantage of all the special programming for interns! We had weekly workshops with members of staff all across the museum, and it was great way to get a broader perspective outside of just the department I was assigned to.
