About Sojourner House

Sojourner House is a comprehensive domestic and sexual violence organization. We provide shelter, housing, and supportive services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, and to youth who experience or witness abuse in their homes. Founded in 1976, the mission of Sojourner House is to promote healthy relationships by providing culturally sensitive support, advocacy, and education for victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence; and to effect systems change.

“I liked getting to work directly with a homeless population in Eau Claire. I saw first-hand what homelessness is and the struggles individuals face. I got to know the guests well and form relationships with them. My perceptions of homelessness and homeless people have been forever changed because I had this job. It was wonderfully eye opening and I feel strongly that every person should volunteer here at least once. ”
