Sound Transit

Safety Assurance Intern

June 2019 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

Full benefits for the summer, tours of the facilities/various modes of operations, tons of new experiences. I worked with a great team that was very encouraging, helpful, and supportive. They, and almost every other employee that I met, were hopeful I'd continue working for Sound Transit, even if I couldn't work with them. Overall, the company is incredibly invested in its employees and it was wonderful to see what my future job could be like.

What I wish was different

More opportunities to create stronger relationships with other interns. The internship program is relatively new and has it's ups and downs but overall they are doing an amazing job.

Advice

Talk to everyone and apply for the mentorship program!

Art Program Archive Development Intern

May - August 2018 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

Working with an incredible group of professionals, learning more about the realm of public art, and working on tasks that have a real impact on the world. By far the best job experience I have ever had.

What I wish was different

Absolutely nothing.

Advice

Part of what helped me get the job was the fact that I had done an informational interview with a person who held a position in a career field I was interested in prior to applying for the job. She ended up being one of the people on my interview panel and it helped me feel more comfortable during the interview process. Additionally, I recommend not being afraid to ask lots of questions and negotiate your benefits.
