-How involved I was able to be in a variety of tasks, events, and learning from other departments. Every employee was eager to teach me about their tasks and really valued my input on interesting projects
-Flexibility of work schedule around class schedules
-They invited me to progress from part-time during the semester to full-time during the summer. Highly recommend doing this internship during the busy and less-busy ag seasons to see the differences between activity levels and get some opportunities to be out in the field...literally!
-Thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all of my coworkers. They are so passionate and it shows through all of their work.
What I wish was different
-Not a thing! I definitely recommend this position to anyone even remotely interested in learning about agriculture and its importance in SC.
Advice
-Talk to everyone in the office that you can! They all work on a variety of really important activities and tasks to grow the overall economy of Ag in SC and they are so eager to share with you! Reach out! Schedule chats, informational interviews, etc.

Marketing Programs and Events Intern
May - July 2021 • Columbia, SC
What I liked
- Everyone in the office, employees and other interns alike, are some of the greatest people I have ever met and I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with them
- There are many opportunities to work "boots on the ground" and work with people outside of the office
- There is always a variety of tasks to be done and I learned something new everyday
What I wish was different
- I wish I could have interned longer!
Advice
- Take the opportunity to grow personally and much as professionally. Fall in love with locally grown food and restaurants that source their ingredients locally. This internship offers much more than just a 9-5.
