Meteorologist Intern

June - July 2019 • Houston, TX

What I liked

I learned how working as a meteorologist in the private sector was like. I got to work with all the departments/teams and gain a lot of experience and skills! Everyone within the company was so friendly and helpful, not only the meteorologists but the marketing/sales, HR, and IT departments as well. I loved the culture of StormGeo.

What I wish was different

Honestly, there was not much I would change. I even got to experience the StormGeo office go into "active weather" mode with Tropical Storm Barry threatening the Gulf Coast. Having a tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico is rare for early in the summer, so most interns do not get to experience working with an active tropical system.

The more of a go-getter you are, the more you will get out of the internship. Don't be afraid to ask for help, or ask for someone to explain what they're doing. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of the internship and you will enjoy it and build your skills and network!
