Student Painters

Branch Manager

January - September 2021 • Boxboro, MA

What I liked

I got lots of support from the company to make sure I succeeded. Starting a local branch of a painting company is a very eye-opening experience and I'm very thankful I've had the opportunity to learn skills such as sales, marketing, supply chain management and employee management. It is a truly a fantastic job for professional development.

What I wish was different

It is a job that requires the capacity to withstand adversity. I found that to be something that made this job a challenge day to day, but it is something you learn to grow from and stop paying so much mind.

Advice

Work hard and your life will be that much easier. The more you let slip behind you, the more it will catch up to you.

Branch Manager

February - August 2021 • Merrimack, NH

What I liked

A lot of experience in time management, leadership, self discipline and hard work. Having the opportunity to manage a group of employees, while being in charge of my own schedule and responsibilities. Many learning opportunities and a big growth opportunity with great networking and resources. Good atmosphere.

What I wish was different

If you are to take this position you must sacrafice, essentially your entire summer and part of your spring strictly to running your branch of the business. There are a lot of things that happen you are not prepared for by the company, but it does offer a good learning opportunity. In addition, the company takes an excessive overhead fee that cuts severely into the manager's profit potential. Overall, for the amount of work needed to succeed in this role the pay does not seem fair.

Advice

Be prepared for this business to become your whole life for a while, have some really bad days, headaches, gut wrenching moments and overall miserable memories. This job can get in the way of any important life activities very easily. You have to want it really bad and you have be willing to go all in and do crazy things to succeed.

June 2021 • Leominster, MA

What I liked

This internship is for the most motivated and success driven college students who are seeking to separate themselves from their peer groups and take the first big step to building the strongest resume possible at their peer group. After just 1 summer with this company, I can confidently say that I have had the most incredible experience I could get from any kind of internship/job. The growth that I've had in all areas of my life is incredible and will forever be life changing. I am able to bring all of my experiences, stories, and growth with me wherever I go. I am extremely excited to return as an Executive Regional Manager, and I am looking forward to having a very positive impact on peoples lives. The financial freedom you also attain from this internship is more than any other person in this age group, and is helping me completely pay for college and invest in my future.

What I wish was different

Nothing

Advice

Be prepared to work harder than you've ever worked, as starting your own full scale business takes a lot of effort and extreme ownership.
