My advice would be don't let people crush your spirit. Both managers and customers will attempt to but you cannot let them win

You don't need to be fasr, just be able to make the sandwichs in a timely manner.

What I liked

We got 50% off on food and catering orders. A couple of employees were nice. Asking for time off was easy and the schedule was flexible.

What I wish was different

I wish we had got breaks. There were times when I would have an 11 to 7 shift and I was not guranteed a break or lunch. Our manager sent out the policy one time because there were some changes and it said "workers are not guranteed a lunch or break". I wish there were more than two people working especially at night. I wish that the manager would have confronted people instead of trying to please everyone or ignoring problems. This caused a bit of a toxic environment in my experience.

Advice

If you are looking for your first job then this is a good place. I'd suggest staying for 6 to 8 months just for experience. At 9 an hour its better than many other food jobs and you don't have to work with grease. WEAR NON SLIP SHOES!! You may die because you slipped on a tomato.

What I liked

It's fun getting to meet customers, especially the regulars. I was also lucky enough to have some pretty great coworkers that made the job fun to be at.

What I wish was different

I wish at the beginning of the employment I felt more open to talk to my boss about things that were going wrong, but she approached me later to assure me that she welcomes anything I have to say to make the workplace better.

Advice

Don't let time get away from you. When you have a few extra minutes before a rush, don't use it to look at your phone or socialize. You can talk to your coworkers, but make sure you check every detail before a rush, because during a rush is not when you want to be playing catch up.

I liked interacting with the customers! Talking to them about their day and just being able to put a smile on their face really made the job fun.

What I wish was different

I wished they had another employee to work the evening shift with me. Sometimes there will be a rush of people and making all those sandwiches by myself was not fun.
