I wish I worked with people who did their job so I didn't have to do two people's jobs at once.
Advice
Do it but don't stay with it super long. Move up the career ladder so you don't get stuck. Subway isn't worth it.

What I liked
My coworkers were very nice and most of the customers were too.
What I wish was different
Nothing really. A few customers were rude and impatient here and there, but that's customer service.
Advice
Try to learn quickly during your training. The best way to learn is by doing, and ask questions of people that are experienced (not necessarily the other trainees).

What I liked
The coworkers are friendly most of the time, I picked up on the routine decently fast, and the customers are very friendly and understanding most of the time. I actually made a new friend because of working drive-thru one day.
What I wish was different
I mainly wish Covid hadn't screwed with the way I got trained in because I had to learn some things over again and get used to how in-store customer service felt after dealing with only drive-thru for about 3 months.
Advice
Do your best to pick up on the routines quickly, and be able to keep a level head during stressful rush-hours or when dealing with annoying customers.

Restaurant Shift Leader
February 2018 • Belvidere, IL
What I liked
I enjoy the experience I get to learn when working with different people. I also enjoy the feeling of a successful shift and constantly learning about new things that I can do and be as a leader.
What I wish was different
Some shifts were rather exhausting in that if there was ever an issue I would often have to extend my hours greatly.
Advice
Do not be afraid of meeting and getting to know more people.

What I liked
I enjoyed the camaraderie of the employees and bosses.
What I wish was different
I wish I had more opportunities for experience pertinent to my major, but a lot of research opportunities were canceled due to COV-ID.
Advice
I think it's best for students searching for a summer job to find the opportunity with the highest wage - particularly when such experience does not relate to one's major/area of interest or expertise.
