the independence, the flexibility with hours, and connecting with guests
What I wish was different
I wish I could’ve worked a full 8 hours each day, and didn’t have to work 6-7 days a week at times. I did not like having to get up at 5 am so often. I also did not like that I was putting so much mileage on my car to earn only $12 an hour.
Advice
If you’re flexible and looking for a real independent job and you’re a morning person, this is the job for you.

What I liked
What I wish was different
We needed more people hired. Our staff was being constantly overworked, hitting 10+ hours of overtime weekly, making the guards less attentive.

Head Lifeguard
May - August 2020 • Cincinnati, OH
What I liked
I liked the freedom they gave us at the pools and how we could somewhat choose what we did most of the shift.
What I wish was different
I wish Swimsafe management would have been more understanding, taken the employees' side, and believed us more often, instead of just taking the side and listening to the Manger at the contracted pool. This made it really difficult to enjoy some of the experiences that this company had to offer.
Advice
I would advise anyone going into this job to be confident and take charge of your actions and responsibilities.

Pool Manager
April - September 2019 • Loveland, OH
What I liked
My guards were awesome!!! Despite forgetting to check the schedule once or twice, they all showed up and went beyond what was expected of them every day
What I wish was different
the country club that our business managed the pool for gave us very limited supplies and would often treat us as if we were not priority to the rest of the facility, although members were always at the pool. We were out of soap for 4 days because they didn’t have any stocked. On very stormy days snack shake employees were sent home, and my guards were asked to stay for the entire shift despite consistent thunderstorm delays. This i thought was unfair
Advice
pool management is STRESSFUL! There’s always things you don’t expect being thrown at you, but being able to solve problems and think fast definitely gives you an upper hand in the business
