I loved connecting with the patients that I was working with in the comprehensive treatment unit. There was a sense of unity and compassion ongoing from the patients to the workers to the volunteers.
What I wish was different
I wish I had found out about this volunteering opportunity early on in my high school years as it has impacted me greatly and I would have loved to have volunteered there for a longer period of time.
Advice
I would like to share that being open about yourself and being able to communicate with people is a great asset to making friends and enhancing you everyday life, and even making a positive impact on those around you, especially those that are enduring a tough fight like cancer.
