What I wish was different

If there were a volunteer position that permitted providing healthcare through certifications.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions regarding things outside of your responsibilities - you can learn a lot.

What I liked

I am able to interact with patients and build my skills.

What I wish was different

I wish the orientation process had been faster. It took almost 2 months to process paperwork before I was able to start volunteering.

Advice

I would reccomend volunteering at Tampa General Hospital if you have the dedication to continuously volunteer for a long period of time.

I like that I got to do a lot of hands on experience with the Hospital.

What I wish was different

I do not wish different. I do hope once I am done shadowing I can pursue my career there.

Always offer to do more. You will learn more and get more out of it.

Process Engineering Intern

What I liked

I enjoyed the project and that we were doing very important work and not just busy work. We had a lot of freedom with the project and got to experience a lot of different departments and systems in the hospital.

What I wish was different

Although I liked the freedom, I would have appreciated a little bit more guidance. A face-to-face meeting with our supervisor every other week would have been nice. I should have communicated this with my supervisor early on.

Advice

When you have freedom on a project, make sure you and any other team members/partners are on the same page and have a plan for a course of action to get to your goal. This way, it is easier to stay on track and focused on getting the results you need.
