What I liked

Working at Taste provided me with good customer service experience. The rest of the staff was friendly, courteous, and demonstrated good team work. The food here is also great!

What I wish was different

Taste in Ghent was overstaffed this summer so I did not get to work as many hours as I'd hoped. I was also hoping for higher pay upon hearing that most of my peers were being paid $9+ per hour as similar jobs.

Advice

I would recommend this employer or their other locations to other college-age students seeking a job. I would advise applicants to be as flexible as possible and to be willing to pick up jobs in the kitchen or drinker.

What I liked

The work environment was the best part. Although it can get busy, the general energy of staff helps to maintain a positive energy at work. Everyone is pretty nice and we all did our fair share of work and whatnot.

What I wish was different

I wish that there could be a more e flushed out chain of command. While I wish I could keep moving up in the company, the only other position left to apply for is a managerial position. I think expanding the chain of command would encourage people to work harder and do better to earn more money and a better title.

Advice

My one piece of advice would be to take a breath if you feel like you’re stressing. Often, people don’t do this at TASTE and we all end up getting upset by the end of the day. Taking a moment to calm yourself and to realize that it’s just work and it will end: I do this quite often.
