The time commitment, as I was taking classes while working the work load was just to much, so more flexibility.

Commercial Banking Intern

What I liked

TD Bank is a great place to work at! I am a Commercial Banking intern! I had two weeks of credit training where I learned how to analyze and spread financial statements, work on appendices (Traditional Cash Flow, Personal cash flow, collateral analysis). I really enjoyed working with my mentor and team. I felt like everyone on my team was my mentor because I got the chance to work with everyone on different, complex deals. Each deal was unique. This internship offered plenty of opportunities to network. There were leadership series events where each LOB shared their work experience and what they do on a daily basis. It allowed me to learn more about different businesses as well! Overall, my internship experience couldn't have been any better!!

What I wish was different

I wish there was another week of credit training for commercial bankers. It probably would've helped to work on more examples in the appendices before I actually started working on real deals with my team! Overall, my internship experience was great!

Advice

Take advantage of everything TD offers you during your internship. It will take you a long way! Make sure you are constantly networking with others and willing to take on a challenge/ work on something new in your role at TD.

Great co-op program and lots of learning resources for students. Working with high level executives as an intern.

What I wish was different

I wish it was more structured. My tasks were unclear and I often didn’t know what to do during this internships.

Advice

Use this internship as an opportunity to network within the company. If you are interested in other lines of business, being an employee makes it much easier to reach out to key people in other parts of the organization.
