I loved how friendly all of the staff was and I really liked how my supervisor made sure that I was learning something new every day. I have a lot of experience with the operations side of hospitality and she had me focus on learning more about the marketing and sales side of it.
What I wish was different
Due to Covid there were limited events so therefore I didn't get as much exposure to them as I normally would've.
Advice
As challenging as it can be to find an internship, especially right now - don't give up. I was consistently and actively on the search for one all summer. I would look for job postings and email different companies every day. It took me a long time to find an internship but eventually I found one and it ended up working out better than I could have ever imagined. I was asked to come back and I will be there Banquet Event Manager full time after graduation!
