What I liked
I absolutely loved working with my supervisor at both departments (Child Life in Pediatrics & Occupational Therapy in Rehabilitation Medicine). Everyone in the department were very cooperative and helpful.
What I wish was different
I wish I had gotten internship credits towards my BS when I volunteered with the Child Life program at Brooklyn hospital. Occupational Therapy observation hours counted for my OT school prerequisite.
Advice
One piece of advice I would share is to come professionally dressed and well prepared to handle your job responsibilities. How you present yourself says a lot about your personality and the place you are coming from (SJC). A lot of students do not take volunteer seriously but it is very important for one to take this opportunity as a learning step that will help gain all the knowledge needed to apply later at a job.
