The Center for Discovery. Located on 1,500 acres of land in Sullivan County, New York, The Center for Discovery is a major research and specialty center that provides healthcare and education services to more than 1,200 children and adults with complex disabilities, medical frailties, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. We are the largest employer in Sullivan County with over 1,600 employees. The Center for Discovery, designated as a Center of Excellence, provides an extraordinary school age and residential program to both children and adults, from world-class music and creative arts therapy, to adapted physical education and a biodynamic agricultural program, among other unique services. Here at The Center, we are a landscape of possibilities and strongly feel that your Human Services program graduates could be tremendous assets to the individuals we have in our care. At The Center, we encourage people with disabilities to lead productive, meaningful, and happy lives by creating a model of an inclusivity. Not only are we a community of care devoted to the health and well-being of the individuals here, but to all people who call this home – our staff, families, and the larger community of which we are a part of. Further, we take steps to stimulate the local and regional economy by creating valuable work opportunities, raising funds to support revitalization efforts in neighboring towns and hamlets, and developing a true “community for all”. Simply put, we are transforming lives through research, innovation, and economic development.
