The DC Tutoring & Mentoring Initiative (DCTMI) bridges tutoring and mentoring organizations, volunteers, and schools so that every student in the District gets the additional academic and non-academic support they deserve.
DCTMI is creating a public grassroots campaign to get a tutor or mentor for every student reading below grade level in DC or with other academic or non-academic needs -- approximately 60,000 students. We recruit volunteers who we then match with our 40 partner nonprofits. Our broader goal is to create a civic culture where community members take more responsibility for one another and for the community as a whole
