The Floating Hospital is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and licensed under Article 28 and Article 31 pursuant to the New York State Department of Health. We are also a charity hospital, and rely on a combination of public and private funding to maintain our charitable purpose.
The population we serve is primarily comprised of families experiencing homelessness and individuals living in public housing. There are elevated instances of domestic violence in these populations, and we are the largest health provider to domestic violence safe-houses in the City of New York.
