What I liked

I very much enjoyed my time as an intern at The Harbinger Group. As a member of their first summer intern class I felt that my input was valued and I was encouraged to provide constant feedback and ideas about the program. I also received wonderful feedback myself. Through this internship I learned how to use excel to efficiently create and update social media audits and podcast research. I learned how to advertise podcasts through blog posts and audiograms. One of my favorite experiences during this internship was being featured on the "Can You Hear Me?" podcast. Our internship class was invited on to an episode of this podcast to discuss "The New Female Workforce". This was a wonderful experience, because I felt that my voice was heard. The THG team always encouraged me to speak my mind and to introduce any ideas I had on our projects. This was a wonderful internship experience, I highly encourage students who are interested in marketing, public relations, and business to apply for this internship.

What I wish was different

I enjoyed being able to work remotely because I did not have to stress about looking for housing or relocating. I know some students can experience more stress from being completely online. I would encourage students who struggle with remote working environments to express their worries to the team. The THG team works online efficiently and still makes everyone feel like they are a part of a strong team even though they are working from home.

Advice

One piece of advice that I was given on my first day of work that I will always remember is write everything down. It was helpful for me to keep a journal during my internship. In this journal I wrote down the projects that I was working on, news things I had learned and feedback I had gotten. The journal I kept still helps me because I can look back at what I have done and learn from past projects.
