It was a good experience to be able to work with children in a group home and be able to observe professionals in that environment.
What I wish was different
As a volunteer the program was very unstructured. If you were an intern it was significantly more structured but I was not able to do an internship because I did not need one for school credit. I wish that the program had more structure and direction.
Advice
It was sometimes a very emotional experience because these children have gone through so much in their young lives. They act out a lot and you really need to understand the reasons behind their behaviors.

What I liked
I loved everything about the internship. They were so nice and extremely helpful. They went out of there was to make sure my own personal goals were met as well as the ones they set for me.
