What I liked

I liked the team I was working with. I liked the Director of Human Resources. I liked the opportunity to get my foot in the door on development technologies.

What I wish was different

When THG bought us, they struggled and ultimately failed to manage their development team in Utah. They moved their development operations over to the UK where they’re based. They broke verbal promises to employees, paid us pennies, and gave us no support at all. They promised bonuses and only gave them if there was a threat of leaving the company. That is, until they quit caring and let us go.

Advice

Keep your resume up to date. Keep your LinkedIn profile up to date. Do not lose the art of job searching/applying/interviewing. If you can tell things are going south in a company, spend some serious time job searching. Worst thing that can happen—assuming you’re bright enough NOT to let your current company know you’re job hunting—is that you’ve spent unnecessary time job hunting.
