I learned so much about the inner workings of a public relations agency. The environment was very intimate and collaborative, and I was let in on a lot of meetings and discussions for different accounts that allowed me to learn about PR and support the publicists wherever necessary.
What I wish was different
I wish my schedule permitted me to work in person rather than remotely. I also wish I had been given much more opportunity to pitch and be involved in client/influencer relationships. I feel like responsibilities such as those would have allowed me to make more of an impact in my role and maybe even be offered a full-time position following graduation.
Advice
Communicate early and often. If you aren't getting what you want from the experience or the workload is too much for you, you and your supervisors will both benefit from discussing it and making adjustments as soon as possible.
