My internship was unforgettable. I learned the nuances of passing legislation, the importance of committee hearings, legislative priorities for Idahoans, and much more. Most importantly, I developed lasting connections with everyone in the office. Staff-wise, the office is relatively small so interns work on substantive matters. Absorbing the inner workings of Capitol Hill was eye-opening. For those interested in a political/government career, this internship is ideal. I spoke with interns in other Congressional offices, and out of all the other Congressional offices, the Office of Rep. Fulcher unquestionably provides the most worthwhile intern opportunities - and most congenial, gleeful, and welcoming staff to work for.

Advice
Serving Idahoans is a fantastic opportunity. Part of the intern duties include answering constituent phone calls. While some Congressional interns dislike this responsibility, my fellow interns and I enjoyed talking to constituents - both supporters and detractors. Rep. Fulcher's staff trained us so we were well-prepared for all types of phone calls, and they happily helped us when we asked for assistance. Consequently, my one piece of advice is to make sure that you ask questions about the phone system.
