It really places an amateur student journalist into a professional newsroom to do actual reporting. I was able to write several published stories a week, in the Arts and Living and Residence sections, and learn a lot from my peers. I came out of the internship a much better journalist.
What I wish was different
At times it got quite overwhelming with its high demands and tight deadlines. Even when I thought I managed my time well, I found myself doing a lot of work after hours.
Advice
Don't be afraid to ask your editor to extend your deadlines. Work something out so that you don't feel the need to rush a story and submit subpar work.
