What I liked
I liked that we got to work so closely with incoming students and got to meet so many faculty and employees of the university. I am thankful to have gained so many leadership and networking skills.
What I wish was different
Being paid such a low amount, monthly was extremely difficult. We accepted the position in November without knowing how much we would be paid and did not find out almost until the summer started. This was unfair, and I felt like they were taking advantage of us as students.
Advice
That there are highs and lows. The highs definitely outweigh the lows if you are passionate about incoming students and making Southern Miss their home. I became a mentor to over 100 new students and this was and still is such an invaluable experience that I would not replace for anything.
