What I liked
I liked that the Washington Diplomat staff gave me a lot of responsibility, as well as freedom to write about issues and events that I am interested in. I also liked that the staff was so helpful in improving my writing skills, as well as my analytical skills.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had read more newspapers before starting. I basically wish I was more prepared for the field that I was going into. The staff was helpful in getting me acclimated with the environment and writing.
Advice
I would say keep an open mind about opportunities you may want to partake in. However, whatever the opportunity you choose to jump on, I would suggest doing your homework on the organization as well as the
Job itself so that you are not totally lost when you arrive. It allows you to operate from a position of strength, and allows you to be more independent.
