About The Watershed Institute

Keeping water clean, safe and healthy is the heart of our mission. We work to protect and restore our water and natural environment in central New Jersey through conservation, advocacy, science, and education.

Our staff includes policy advocates, scientists, land and water stewards, naturalists and educators. We speak out for water and environment, protect and restore sensitive habitats, test our waterways for pollution and inspire others to care for the natural world. We focus our work in the Stony Brook-Millstone and the adjacent part of the Central Delaware River Watersheds.

As a non-profit organization we depend on the support of members and volunteers. Learn how you can help us protect central New Jersey’s water and environment.

Reviews

Stewardship Intern

May 2022 - August 2022 Pennington, NJ
“I loved being able to get to work outside and be able to see the impact of the effort I was putting in as well as being able to interact with people from a variety of backgrounds to help engage visitors, volunteers, and summer campers with the outdoors and sustainable forest management.”

Group Leader of 8-9 year olds

June 2019 - August 2019 Pennington, NJ
“I loved spending all-day outside teaching kids how nature worked. We went on hikes daily, played in the stream, and every Thursday I stayed late with my team and the kids to cook the kids dinner over a campfire (if it wasn't raining).”
