About Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation

The Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation (TRMF) is a 501(c)(3) public non-profit organization that was formed in 1986 by our founder Harold Schafer.

The TRMF operates lodging, entertainment and recreation attractions, and provides numerous historical education opportunities in the beautiful ND badlands near Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Through the contributions and teamwork of a board of directors, a full time staff of approximately 40, 300+ seasonal employees , 500 + seasonal volunteers, and financial support from generous supporters from across the country, TRMF and Medora are a world class destination for guests and visitors young and old.

Housing is available to seasonal employees for $40 per week for a shared room and $65 for a single room. Employees have access to the Life Skills Center building which includes a cafeteria, fitness center, social room, and a resource room for students who are taking online summer classes. Other perks include free admittance and discounts to attractions, shops, and restaurants around town. TRMF seasonal employees have the opportunity for an end of season bonus and to apply for our scholarships. We will work with student interns to ensure that their job duties and special projects align with their university's academic requirements.

“I love everything about Medora, In Medora they have three properties, and I had the chance to rotate around the lodging department, working with different managers and co-worker. What was more fun I also worked at the call center, the campground, also as a housekeeper etc. I totally had a fun time at Medora. However I did finish my intern on Aug 28, the tap would not let me input the date so I just put it as on going which I am not. And not only that there were 7 or 8 BYUH student that did an intern at Medora that is what makes it more fun.”
