Intern - Department of Tehcnology, Innovation & Sustainability

June - July 2019 • Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia

What I liked

The workers were incredibly friendly and very insightful. They provided me with constructive criticism and gave me a lot of helpful tips and tricks within my work. They went out of their way to be welcoming, even with a distinct language barrier between us. I worked on projects very relevant to my major and it gave me a great ooportunity to learn about what working in research and development looks like.

What I wish was different

Being paid would have been nice, but the work and the work environment were satisfying enough that being unpaid was not a burden at all. I also wish I knew how to speak German.

Advice

Go abroad! Lehigh has unbelievable resources available to help students do incredible things overseas. If working outside of the US for a summer sounds interesting to you, reach out to your advisor in the study abroad office and start looking at all of the opportunities available!
